ADF to LA governor: Stand with women, sign bill protecting fairness in women’s sports

An expert report summarizes multiple studies around the world that demonstrate the physical advantages males enjoy in athletic competition.

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Christiana Kiefer regarding the Louisiana Legislature’s approval Monday of the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act (SB 44), a bill that protects opportunities for women and girls in athletics by ensuring they are not forced to compete against men playing on women’s sports teams:

“Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field. We commend the Louisiana Legislature for recognizing this and passing the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act for a second time. Since Gov. Jon Bel Edwards’s veto of the bill last year, we’ve continued to see increasing incidents nationwide of males dominating girls’ athletic competitions when competing as females. In response to that increase, seven additional states have enshrined protections for female athletes into law in 2022, bringing the total to 16 states. We hope that, in light of this nationwide movement to preserve fair athletic competition, the governor will reconsider his previous rejection of this legislation and sign the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act into law so female athletes will not face those losses in Louisiana.”
