UNITED NATIONS – The Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations will host a panel discussion Tuesday to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The event, “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70: Its Foundations, Achievements, and Violations,” will feature speakers who will discuss the continued relevance of the document and the responsibility of the international community to protect the fundamental freedoms it outlines.

Those wishing to attend should RSVP by Friday. A U.N. guest pass is required.

“In the run-up to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we urge the United Nations, world leaders, and the international community to reaffirm the inherent dignity of every human being and to promote fundamental freedoms for every person without exception,” said ADF International Executive Director Paul Coleman.

On Dec. 10, the day of the declaration’s anniversary, ADF International will deliver thousands of signatures from more than 170 countries in support of The Geneva Statement. It urges the international community to uphold the fundamental right to life, family, and religious freedom, as recognized by the declaration. The “I’m Human, Right?”campaign continues to collect signatures for The Geneva Statement and calls for new commitments from the international community. (#ImHumanRight)

ADF International is an alliance-building, non-profit legal organization that advocates for the right of people to freely live out their faith.
