Over the past year, Truth &Triumph has featured several individuals whose stands for religious liberty have put them on a collision course with the leftist agenda. We thought you might be interested in what has happened to some of them in the days since:
Ruth Malhotra (“Going Legal”, Summer 2008)
At the 36th Annual Conservative Political Action Conference in February, ADF clients Orit Sklar and Ruth Malhotrabecame the youngest recipients ever presented with The Ronald Reagan Award by the American Conservative Union. Honoring the “foot soldiers” of the conservative movement, the award carries a $10,000 prize, which was presented to Ruth and Orit in recognition of their efforts to bring religious liberty and freedom of speech to the campus of Georgia Tech University.
“We are so grateful for ADF representing us,” Ruth wrote in a note of appreciation to ADF staff, “and we really appreciate each one of you and the tremendous impact you have had on our lives.”
Edwin Meese III (“The Challenges Facing Religious Freedom”, Spring 2008)
On May 12, former Attorney General Edwin Meese III was on hand in Washington, D.C., for a special breakfast announcing a new award, to be named in his honor and presented by the Alliance Defense Fund. Beginning in 2010, the Edwin Meese III Originalism and Religious Liberty Award will be given in recognition of the person who demonstrates a profound legal accomplishment related to constitutional originalism and the preservation of religious liberty in America.
