School’s back in session.

And, sadly, the attacks on freedom in elementary schools, high schools, and on college campuses are increasing.

A New Threat to Freedom – Critical Race Theory Indoctrination

Young, impressionable students in our nation’s public schools are returning to the classroom after months of online classes. And they’re encountering the spread of a harmful ideology that seeks to divide them against, rather than unite them to, their fellow students and everyone else in the world. This ideology cynically casts aside inherent rights and freedoms like religious freedom and free speech.

It’s called “critical theory.”

Critical theory is rooted in Marxist thought. It took hold in colleges and universities decades ago, but today it’s taking a foothold across our nation—including in our public school classrooms.

Critical theory teaches that injustice flows from faulty power structures like the government, the church, and the family. It views these institutions as “oppressors” who are attempting to crush the “oppressed.”

One strand of critical theory that you have likely heard a lot about is “Critical Race Theory” (CRT).

CRT attempts to address racism by viewing all problems through the lens of race. But it ends up fostering racism.

Racism is wrong. Every person is created in the image of God and deserving of equal treatment and respect.

But the solution to racism isn’t more (or different) racism. People shouldn’t be judged by the color of their skin.

Here are just a few examples of what’s happening in public schools:

  • Children as young as five are being told they are either “oppressed” or an “oppressor” based solely on their skin color.
  • And it’s not just race. Children are being taught that it is a lie to say that God created humans as male and female. And teachers are being told they must accept, and affirm, whatever gender a student chooses, no matter their sex.

But Critical Race Theory’s not the only threat …

The indoctrination of children in Critical Race Theory isn’t the only threat to freedom in schools. There are attacks on the freedom of teachers and professors, religious colleges, and, of course, students themselves.

Loudoun County Teachers

Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia suspended an elementary school teacher for voicing his objections to a proposed policy that would force teachers to violate their beliefs. That policy has since been adopted by the school district—and now two more teachers are attempting to join the lawsuit and challenge the policy. Learn More

College of the Ozarks

College of the Ozarks, a religious school in Missouri that aims to provide a Christian education, is challenging a directive from the Biden administration that forces religious schools to open their dorm rooms and shared shower spaces to members of the opposite sex. This violates the college’s religious beliefs. Learn More

Lydia Booth

Third-grader Lydia Booth just wanted to share her faith with her schoolmates. That’s why, last year, she wore a mask with the message, “Jesus Loves Me” printed on it. But the principal at her Mississippi school required her to remove and replace the mask—even though other students were allowed to wear masks with messages on them. Learn More

You Can Help Stop Critical Race Theory Indoctrination—and DOUBLE Your Gift

With the help of friends like you, ADF will challenge this indoctrination in public schools.

And with your help, we will help parents to ensure that their children can attend a school that will not indoctrinate them with a harmful worldview.

But we need to immediately expand the ADF legal team to be fully equipped to advance these important and challenging cases.

Without the support of people like you, this necessary expansion won’t be possible.

A generous Ministry Friend who believes strongly in this work is offering to match your gift—dollar for dollar—up to $500,000.

Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders.

Schools and universities should be marketplaces of ideas where students can learn from different perspectives. They shouldn’t be places in which students are indoctrinated or silenced if they have certain points of view. Students should not feel pressured to self-censor simply because they hold differing beliefs.

To protect the future of freedom, we must protect and promote freedom in classrooms and on campus. And we must reject indoctrination.

If you feel strongly that America must remain a nation that protects and celebrates our constitutional freedoms, please rise to the challenge and take your stand for freedom today.
