I know you probably want to put 2020 behind you. We all do.
But this video shouldn’t be left in the past. Its message is just as important now as it was in 2020.
In case you missed it, Alliance Defending Freedom client Selina Soule appeared on PragerU to explain how women’s sports are being threatened. And everyone needs to hear what she has to say.
Selina is a talented sprinter from Connecticut who has long wanted to compete in college.
To achieve that goal, Selina has been training since she was eight years old. That has meant a challenging routine of early morning runs, after-school practices, and weekend competitions. And it’s required a lot of sacrifices along the way.
That dedication has paid off. In 2018, as a sophomore, Selina was one of the top female sprinters in Connecticut.
Despite that, Selina was denied the honors she worked so hard to earn. And there was nothing she could do about it.
You see, a Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) policy allows male athletes who identify as girls to compete on the girls’ team. And at the State Championships in both 2018 and 2019, two male athletes took first and second place in the girls’ 100-meter dash. This bumped deserving female athletes like Selina off the podium and took away their opportunities to compete at the next level of competition.
All in all, these two male athletes took 15 women’s state championship titles that had previously belonged to nine different girls. And within just three years, over 85 chances to compete in elite athletic competitions were taken from girls across the state.
But as Selina says, “Women have fought too hard for too long so girls like me could have the opportunity to compete on a level playing field.”
That’s why she decided to take a stand. Alliance Defending Freedom filed a lawsuit against the CIAC on behalf of Selina and a few other female athletes in Connecticut.
And we’re fighting in court to correct this and preserve a level playing field for female athletes. After all, as Selina points out in the video: “Biological differences in strength and speed between boys and girls are massive and real.” That’s a scientific fact.
When our laws and policies ignore the very real differences between men and women, it is most often women and girls who get hurt.
Even though truth is on their side, these female athletes need your support. Nothing will stop these activists from pushing their political agenda—and portraying these brave female athletes as “sore losers”—not even the truth.
So, will you stand with Selina?
