BLOGAn Early Christmas Present: FBI Investigating Planned Parenthood over Baby Part Sales

By Marissa Mayer Posted on: | December 13, 2017

There is a new reason to give thanks this Christmas season.

Last week, Fox News discovered that the Justice Department is investigating Planned Parenthood for its role in trafficking baby body parts.

If you’re like me, you were probably disgusted, alarmed, and eager for justice following the 2015 release of the undercover Center for Medical Progress videos. The videos feature high-ranking Planned Parenthood officials discussing the harvest and sale of baby hearts, livers, and brains.

In the fall of 2015, a special congressional panel, the U.S. House of Representatives Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, was charged with getting to the bottom of the abortion industry’s practices—and the results weren’t pretty. After months of investigation, the panel made numerous recommendations in its final report, including defunding Planned Parenthood and prosecuting those who have illegally profited from the sale of baby body parts.

Likewise, in December 2016, the Senate Judiciary Committee issued its own report, “Human Fetal Tissue Research: Context and Controversy,” referring Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers to the FBI for investigation over the controversy.

But no action was taken—until now.

You may be wondering why you haven’t heard much (if anything) about this. After all, we’re talking about a billion-dollar organization that receives more than $500 million of our taxpayer dollars each year that is under federal investigation. But true to style, the mainstream media has stayed mum on the issue thus far.

When it comes to Planned Parenthood, it sure seems that the media cannot bear to report anything negative. If you remember, there was nearly a complete media blackout on the undercover video when they were initially released.

It wasn’t until Planned Parenthood started claiming that the videos were fake—citing a report by a Democratic opposition-research firm Fusion GPS—that the media started to talk about the videos, parroting the organization’s “highly edited” talking point far and wide.

In reality, the firm found that “analysis did not reveal widespread evidence of substantive video manipulation,” a fact confirmed by Coalfire Systems, a highly accredited forensic analysis and cybersecurity company that does work for Fortune 500 companies. The legitimacy of Center for Medical Progress’s work was recently confirmed: Two of the companies it submitted complaints on agreed to cease all operations and pay millions in fines.

Notably, Fusion GPS is the same scandalous company behind the infamous Russian dossier on President Trump, and is also facing scrutiny for alleged involvement in media pay-to-publish schemes. Go figure.

And while the congressional reports on the Planned Parenthood baby parts scandal were a positive step, they didn’t come easy. Democratic committee members in the House and the Senate, some of whom had political and personal ties to the abortion giant, tried to block the investigation at every turn.

Instead of looking at the evidence against Planned Parenthood, they called on the Justice Department to investigate the citizen journalists who filmed the undercover videos, following in the footsteps of abortion cronies in Houston and California. These attempts to undermine the importance of undercover journalism by silencing whistleblowers should concern all who value free speech and freedom of the press.

At least when all else fails, Planned Parenthood can call on their fans in Hollywood. Promotional pieces from Katie Couric, Shonda Rhimes, and Joss Whedon have attempted to convince the public that Planned Parenthood makes the world go round. Thankfully, it seems that this administration’s Justice Department isn’t falling for it.
