Real people are feeling the effects of the passage of sexual orientation, gender identity nondiscrimination ordinances across the country.
But maybe in a different way than you’d expect.
These ordinances prohibit discrimination in the facilities or accommodations open to the public – for example, restrooms, locker rooms, and shower facilities.
The practical effect, however, is to punish individuals who decline to participate in events – or promote ideas – that violate their faith.
Senior Vice President Kristen Waggoner discusses a few of these examples in the following video.
- Be vigilant in your city and stay up-to-date with the proposals that come before your city government. If you hear that a SOGI law is being considered, contact us at email@example.com or 1-800-835-5233.
- If you are, or you know, a business owner who is being threatened for operating your business according to your religious beliefs, or you have questions about your right to do so, ADF can help. Contact us and we will evaluate whether we can assist in your situation.
- Nonprofit organizations are also threatened by these ordinances. Any organization that holds true to what Scripture teaches about gender and sexuality may be at risk. Alliance Defending Freedom has developed a free legal guide for churches, religious schools, and other religious ministries that will protect you in advance of these ordinances.
