Just as spring brings green to the dull winter world, it seems to be working its magic on mainstream media outlets which finally are digging into the truth about school “gender identity” policies that force students to undress in school locker rooms with members of the opposite sex.
Alliance Defending Freedom filed a lawsuit on behalf of a boy in Boyertown, PA this week. He was getting dressed for P.E. one day only to find a girl wearing nothing but a bra and shorts nearby. After raising the issue with school officials -- whose duty it is to protect the privacy, dignity, and well-being of students -- the boy was told to get over it and “act natural.” But as a number of commentators promptly pointed out, that’s a bit tough to do when schools intentionally intermingle the sexes in a high school locker room.
An op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer points out the fact that allowing boys in the girls’ locker room, showers, and even overnight accommodations on school trips is not natural. The author also calls out the hypocrisy of those demanding “tolerance” to their point of view on gender confusion while offering none to those who disagree.
This article in the Reading Eagle focuses on the facts of the Boyertown case and reports that the Boyertown School District superintendent suggested the boy who objected to having a girl in the locker room be homeschooled rather than follow Pennsylvania law requiring schools to maintains sex-specific facilities.
It should be concerning to everyone when mainstream media articles accurately reporting the news is so rare that it becomes noteworthy. Fortunately, even the mainstream media is finally getting the story right, and as the reporting improves, there is hope for sound solutions that will protect the privacy, safety, and dignity of all students.
