Katie Couric recently visited the new Planned Parenthood 14,000 square foot facility in Queens, New York, where she took a tour of the clinic and chatted with Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards. On the surface, it was a great PR move by the abortion giant, but a closer look reveals five big problems with Couric's "safe and welcoming" Planned Parenthood visit.
1. How Planned Parenthood behaves on a scheduled site visit has nothing to do with real life.
What Planned Parenthood does when everyone is watching is one thing— what they do when they think no one is watching is an entirely different matter.
The undercover videos of Planned Parenthood abortionists advertising fresh baby brains, hearts, and livers are the perfect example. While Planned Parenthood continues to try to pass off the videos as "highly edited", one of the country’s most trusted digital forensic analysis companies, Coalfire Systems, has verified that the videos are authentic.
So . . . real life conversations of professional baby butchers discussing selling baby hearts and livers with their peers? Or a scripted conversation with a celebrity who is known to have donated to the abortion giant? Come on.
2. Real customer reviews of Planned Parenthood clinics tell a different story.
Last month, The Federalist examined some of Planned Parenthood's real-life Yelp reviews. Here are some of the highlights: “experience was awful,” “insanely horrible,” “filthy,” “frankly, I am scared,” “1 word: disgusting.”
Anyone who has ever hosted a party or get-together at their house knows that what the house looks like when company is coming over is very different from what it looks like every other day of the year.
So again, what are you going to believe: reviews from customers on Yelp who have set foot in Planned Parenthood clinics across the country on a normal working day . . . or a celebrity endorsement?
3. Planned Parenthood has a history of violating health and safety standards.
It's a good thing the Supreme Court has decided to re-enter the abortion debate for the first time in years to hear a case addressing the need for women to receive the highest standards of care at abortion clinics. After all, many abortion facilities, including Planned Parenthood clinics, are routinely cited for failing to meet basic health standards.
For example, in 2013, just a few years after Kermit Gosnell's house of horrors was raided and the notorious abortionist was convicted of murder, a Delaware Planned Parenthood clinic was closed because of unsafe and unsanitary conditions. Former clinic nurses described it as “meat-market style assembly-line abortions” where the abortionist used surgical instruments that weren't sterilized and that operating tables were unclean, with "bloody drainage on it."
Most notably, the threat to women who step foot in Planned Parenthood clinics is illustrated by the 2012 death of one Illinois mother, who died after the Planned Parenthood abortionist delayed emergency medical treatment the patient needed. Planned Parenthood settled the wrongful death lawsuit for $2 million.
Saying that Planned Parenthood is safe is pretty much the same thing as abortion advocates saying they believe abortion should be rare—we all know it's not accurate, but it sure sounds better than the truth.
4. Planned Parenthood has zero concern for a large percentage of their patients—babies in the womb.
Dr. Susan Rutherford, a board certified OB-GYN specializing in maternal-fetal medicine says, "Obstetrics is unique in that there are two patients, the mother and the unborn baby."
During Couric's Potemkin tour, the clinic director described how they monitor the mothers' vitals during surgical abortions. She didn't say anything though about monitoring babies' vitals as they are dismembered in the womb, because we all know that their goal is to stop the baby's heartbeat.
Last year alone, Planned Parenthood killed over 320,000 babies in the womb. Their abortionists have been caught on video laughing about baby eyeballs and bemoaning the fact that they can't pull a dead baby's head out of the womb intact. That's why, when we see stuff like this, we can't even laugh at the irony because it is that disturbing.
5. Nothing in the interview explains why a scandal-ridden organization like Planned Parenthood deserves the hundreds of millions in taxpayer dollars they receive each year over other Federally Qualified Health Centers.
So why does Planned Parenthood deserve our tax dollars? Surely it can't be because their cronies are too busy enjoying the fruits of their Planned Parenthood endorsements in the form of campaign dollars. And it can't be because Planned Parenthood prioritizes women's health and safety above all else even though all the evidence points to the contrary.
Planned Parenthood may have a massive PR budget and celebrity endorsements, but there's one thing that Planned Parenthood will never have on its side—the truth
